Herodotus of Halicarnassus (modern-day Bodrum, Turkey) is an ancient Greek historian who has been called the "Father of History" or the worlds first historian. He lived from approximately 484 BC to 425 BC. His books called the Histories describe the wars between the Greeks and Persia but also contain information about ancient empires including Babylon and Egypt.
